Blast from the Past: Carly Simon and James Taylor - Mockingbird
This is one of my favorite duets of all time, Carly Simon and James Taylor back in the days when Carly Simons was Mrs. James Taylor. This is from the No Nukes concert put on by MUSE, the Musicians United for Safe Energy in 1979, I believe. The concert and subsequent album were both a success and featured the likes of the aforementioned Mr & Mrs Taylor, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Chaka Kahn, the Doobie Brothers and more. I didn’t go to the concert but when the movie was released I saw it several times with my friends at midnight showing at the TLA on South Street in Philadelphia.
This song is on my iPod now and I listen to it when I take my morning walk or feel like singing at the top of my lung when I’m washing the floor or doing laundry or something. Give it a listen and tell me it doesn’t want to make you sing too.
