Have you seen the new “junior assistant” commercial from AT&T?  Mariah Carey is in it and it’s a real quick appearance but I thought it was pretty cute.  I have to admit that I was surprised to see her in a phone ad but who cares?  I know some people have been giving her flack (like Perez Hilton) for being in a “lowly” commercial like this one but sometimes you’ve got to take certain jobs to get back on top. 

Finally, the wait is over!  Fans who have been waiting patiently to hear the new Mariah Carey album can now go out and buy it or download it and listen to the whole thing.  It’s been delayed a couple times so I’m sure it will be a relief for her to have it out there.
Memoirs of a Perfect Angel includes her first release “Obsessed” which drew some heat because fans felt like she could have done better but the video was inflammatory.

Mariah Carey performed “I Want To Know What Love Is” on Oprah last Friday.  The song is the second single from her upcoming Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and, of course, it’s a cover of the 1984 power balled by Foreigner.

Mariah Carey’s upcoming album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel has been pushed back by more than a month with the singer announcing (via her official website) the following:

I’m guessing Eminem didn’t find Mariah Carey’s new video for her single “Obsessed” too amusing.  So many people have speculated that she dressed up in this hoodie to parody the rapper even though she denies it.

Before you watch the video, I’ve got to say that, aside from the super simple vocals and melody of this song (she’s so much better than this!) Mariah Carey took the stage and reunited with Trey Lorenz to perform Michael Jackson’s hit “I’ll Be There” and I was moved by the effort. I was really glad that Trey was invited to sing along side her since he really was a huge part of the single’s success

Of course, it goes without saying that the actual singing and styling was not great on Mariah’s part but I believe that her heart was in it. She sounded affected by the emotion of the very sad event.

I didn’t realize that stars were being rounded up to perform at Michael Jackson’s memorial service tomorrow (if you can’t attend, it will be televised) but it makes sense.
I hadn’t really thought past the fact that he died, it’s still a shock, but this bit of news is very sweet.
Mariah Carey will perform the Jackson 5 classic “I’ll Be There” which is fitting since her cover of the song on MTV’s Unplugged back in 1992 really helped her career get off the ground.

I was really surprised when I saw these new pictures from Mariah Carey’s video shoot for her new single “Obsessed.”  She makes a number of costume changes and even dresses up as a man for two characters and I have to admit that I’m curious to see what the finished product looks like.

Mariah Carey is releasing a new album called Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel on August 25, 2009.  Even though I worry that she’s changed too much over the years, I am remaining optimistic about the upcoming tracks.
I’m not terribly fond of her new song “Obsessed” but I wasn’t crazy about “Dreamlover” at first either and I eventually grew to love it.   Besides, even if I still dislike that first single, it doesn’t mean the other tracks can’t be good.  I’m looking forward to reviewing it later this summer.
