Melissa Etheridge names new album after “amazing peace”
While battling the discomforts of her breast cancer treatment, Melissa Etheridge also found peace of mind after an especially brutal session.
”When I got diagnosed with breast cancer, it knocked me on my butt, literally and figuratively. I came out of it with a new perspective, a new spirituality, a new meaning for life.
“While on chemotherapy, I would sit there for days and days and days. I couldn’t read, I couldn’t watch TV, I couldn’t do anything because it hurt. I would just lay there.
“I thought everything you could think and went through my life two or three times. I ran out of things to think about. All of a sudden, I found this amazing peace that I’d never gotten to. I had this awakening.”
It’s this awakening and amazing peace that inspired the title of her new album “The Awakening.”
