Suzi Quatro: Leather Tuscadero is Still Rockin’
October 7, 2007 by Sarah
It’s been decades since many of us were first introduced to Suzi Quatro as Leather Tuscadero on Happy Days, but she wasn’t just a tough sitcom musician. Suzi Quatro was one of the first, truly gritty female rockers. No miniskirts or pretty songs about gypsies or butterflies for Suzi Quatro, she rocked out like the guys, and I for one appreciated it. Dressed in black leather and singing songs with names such as “Devil Gate Drive” and “48 Crash” Suzi, along with Joan Jett and Lita Ford, showed me that women in rock didn’t have to sing pretty songs to make good music.
Suzi is 57 and still rocking. She’s touring Australia, where she’s still extremely popular and has sold about 50 million albums worldwide.
Here’s a video from 2003, it’s the most recent I can find, but shows you she still has it.
Rock on, Suzi

Quatro is a bona-fide musician/rocker [not to mention a half-way decent actor] who was w…a…y ahead of her time. She was a 1st. She drew the blue-print
and laid down the law for any/all future female rockers to the same extent Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix laid down the law for future rock guitarists.
