At She Plays Music we generally cover music’s good girls. The role models and talented ladies who deserve all the accolades. Oh, we cover some bad behavior now and then, but not like this. Today I give you She Play’s Music’s

Top 10 Bad Girls of Music.

1. Janice Joplin - Janis Joplin made the big haired, poofy dressed divas of the 50’s and 60’s look like syrupy caricatures as she portrayed her self in a completely opposite manner. Flamboyant and embracing the sex, drugs & rock ‘n roll life style Janis was the anti-diva. She was a true and total badass and didn’t care who knew it. She cursed on stage, wore wild outfits, and supported a $200 a day drug habit. Major coin in that era. Janis died of a drug overdose in October 1970.

2. Courtney Love - Courtney Love’s bad behavior is well-chronicled, especially her battle with drugs. She’s a former stripper, very loud and seems to enjoy making an ass out of herself. Though her band Hole did very well, it doesn’t appear to be because Courtney has talent, but rather because she rode on the coat tails of her departed husband Kurt Cobain.

3. Madonna - In the 80’s and 90’s Madonna did everything to prove to the world she was slutty and proud of it. She pranced around in sultry wedding dresses, put out a book called “Sex” featuring racy pictures and danced around a burning cross. Nowadays she’d like you to think she’s all Mommy and causes, but we remember back to the day.

4. Wendy O. Williams - Speaking of Badass - Wendy O. Williams did everything to show the world she had the baddest ass on the planet. Wearing nothing but leather pants and electric tape covering her nipples, Wendy and her band the Plasmatics kicked butt on stage while blowing up a few props in the process. In 1998, at the age of 48, Wendy committed suicide.

5. Amy Winehouse - Need I say more? Captured on video doing drugs? Arrested for suspicion of assault? Walking around town in only her bra? Oh Amy, you do disappoint. One of the most promising voices of the decade so far, may not see 2010 if she doesn’t clean up her act soon.

6. Christina Aguilera - First she was a good girl, then she was a bad girl, and now she’s a good girl again. But when she was bad she was so, so bad. Parents cringed and hid their children’s eyes as the former Disney star decided to get “Dirty” in a naughty skirl girl outfit and assless chaps. Christina has settled down now, and as a mommy realized she has an example to set. Still, young kids can still look on YouTube and get Dirty if they want to.

7. Foxy Brown - When Foxy was arrested for getting in a fight over a manicure in 2005, she was told to behave. She didn’t. In spite of 3 year probation and anger management classes, Foxy got in trouble again after smacking her neighbor with her cellphone. In 2007 she was arrested for violating her parole and sent to jail for 7 months.

8. Britney Spears -As far as we know, Britney Spears’ problems with behaving, which include forgetting to put on underwear, driving erratically and holding her children hostage, all appear to be mental. Now that she’s taking her meds, she’s a much better citizen.

9. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes - One third of the popular R&B trio, TLC, Lisa Lopes was the perky, troubled member. Lisa had a well-known battle with alcohol and entered rehab for a time. Her troubles became public after she burned down her boyfriend, professional athlete Andre Rison’s, mansion. Lisa was killed in a car accident in Honduras in 2002.

10.L’il Kim - In 2005 L’il Kim, known for breast baring outfits and not paying her taxes, was found guilty of perjury and conspiracy after a jury felt she lied about witnessing a shooting in NYC. She was sentenced to a year and a day a federal prison. She wrote 200 songs while in prison and is using the time since her release in a more positive manner.
