VMA Nominations: Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Jordan Sparks Duke it out for Best Female Video
Since MTV announced that this year’s VMAs would be part viewer’s choice, the votes started pouring in. While some of the obvious names such as Mariah Carey rose to the top, one in particular is a bit of a surprise.
Who ever expected Britney Spears to be nominated for VMAs this year? Even after her melt down and other personal issues, her fans are still behind her. Spears is up for several awards including, Best Pop Video and Best Female Video. The competitions is stiff though with Rihanna, Jordan Sparks, Mariah Carey and Katy Perry all in the running for Best Female Video.
In an interview with MTV, Katy Perry humbly accepted the challenge, saying, “The challenge is tough but I always put up a good fight, and if I don’t win…y’know, that’s ok.”
The nominees for Best Pop Video, Best Male Video, and Best Hip Hop Video have all be decided. Best Dance Video and Best New Artist are open for voting right now.
I’ve voted for the Pussycat Doll’s “When I Grow Up” for Best Dance Video. The way the dance was featured reminded me of when I was a kid and learned to dance by watching videos. It’s also sexy and fun. The Pussycat Dolls music is also ridiculously infectious and you can’t help wanting to dance along. And check out the leg extension on the blond with the short hair (I think her name is Ashley)!
