Wanda Jackson Appreciation

I would like to shine a spotlight on a very important woman in music history, The First Lady of Rockabilly: Wanda Jackson. She was was one of the first women to grown in mainstream popularity and a pioneer in rock and roll music.

I remember Wanda on the turntable at my grandfathers house as a kid and the unforgettable growl in her voice. Below is a photo of Wanda at the height of her popularity in the mid 1950’s along with a video of her preforming Sparklin’ Brown Eyes.
