Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls has a solo album coming out in September. In the meantime, she’s been running a video series, teasing her fans with bits a pieces of the album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer.
Who Killed Amanda Palmer is all concept; a harrowing who done it, driven by Palmer’s sharp poetic lyricism and heavy handed piano playing. It is vaudevillian, much like her work with the Dolls, but with a slightly more refined and sophisticated quality.
So far, three videos have been released. “Astronaut” is vulnerable and aggressive, where “Ampersand” is waltzing and resolved. With “Runs in the Family” the tale becomes suddenly erratic and paranoid.
Each video is a clue to a mystery and this last video contains quite a cliffhanger. I wonder what will happen next…
